Trying Something New

  sweater: jcpenny (similar)  leggings: jcpenny

I've mentioned before that I am not good at being adventurous or trying new things.

This weekend I went to my first yoga class.
I have always wanted to try it and am proud of myself for doing it!

My mom and I went together, and I honestly was afraid that I would start laughing during part of it.
Especially if there was any type of chanting.

Thankfully neither of those things happened.

I actually really enjoyed it and we plan on going again.

Only negative - there was this loud breathing, bear man across from me and if you know me even the occasional sniffle is annoying.

So I'm hoping next time I'm surrounded by quiet breathers.

After, my mom and I walked to Starbucks to get coffee and I have to admit, taking a yoga class and then going out to coffee raised my self cool bar a little higher.

Admitting that and documenting it in pictures, should probably lower it again.

Hope your weekend was as adventurous as mine!

If you haven't entered Kerrie's giveaway from last week you should!

  1. I don't know if I could handle a group yoga class. The few times I've tried yoga it was slow paced and had very awkward positions. lol. Kudos for trying it!

  4. Good for you for trying it! I hate group exercise classes period! But yes, a good cup of Starbucks is the best end to any day!!

  5. Good for you! I LOVED my yoga class and I really really miss it now that I have to take my daughter to kindergarten at that time. By the end I was even able to do the "crow" pose! I'm sure I looked ridiculous, but it was a fun accomplishment.

  7. How fun! I went to a boot camp workout at school last week and realized strength training is NOT for me! I need something more calming/serene! Maybe I should take up yoga... via Wii Fit! :) Your outfit is too cute, as usual! Have a great week, Katie!

  11. I have always wanted to go to yoga but I'm so self-conscious I don't know if I could! Kudos to you for going (and I don't think documenting it lowers your coolness factor at all)!

  13. Cracking up right now! I recently got into yoga/pilates too and LOVE it... There is something so nice about the stretching and working your body without nearly dying. I wouldn't handle loud breathers to well, either. And hey, I think the images boosted your cool bar :)

  14. Funny you bring this up because I tried Yoga out for the first time a few weeks ago and ummmm yeah mine was weird to say the least. Let's just say at one point the instructor had us sticking our thumbs in our belly button chanting......thhhumb, thhhhumb, thhhumb. I'm thinking there may be a difference between those hard core yoga places versus like a yoga class at Lifetime Fitness or something bc no one else I talked to has had an experience like me!

  15. oh my goodness, I know exactly what you mean. My sister and I went to our first yoga class a few weeks ago and couldn't barely contain the laughing. I'm clearly not very flexible. lol. Adore this post, love. If you get a sec, I'd love if you'd check out my latest outfit post and part one of my NYFW experience, including my lunch to discuss my LaurenConrad.com style column and meeting the fabulous Olivia Palermo... Eeek.<3

  18. you are totally cool! :) Isn't it awesome. I decided this week I'm getting back into yoga. With all the running, I need something to stretch these muscles out. I got turned off for awhile because I was going to hot yoga....and it's freaking hot but I think some regular yoga is calling my name! :)

  21. You crack me up :-) I know what you mean about the breathers at yoga too! Have you ever tried hot yoga? I remember several heavy breathers in there and I won't even mention the sweat flinging around that place at times! YUCK!

And there was that one time a guy wore loose shorts and no underwear. Yeah -- we unfortunately, saw everything!

  26. Love that orange sweater! The color is fantastic on you! You just reminded me that I really need to sign up for a yoga class. I took a few in college and loved it. It's so relaxing! I'm with you on the loud breathing though...that can make for a very difficult time concentrating xx
