In the last weeks I have said all of these things at least once in my classroom . . . 
Let me check your pencil sharpener for ants.  
You may not bring those ants home, please empty your pencil sharpener in the trash. 
We just talked about this last week.  You may not be firing people from your club.  
You may not even have a special club.  
Please stop crawling underneath your desk. 
It shouldn't take you 15 minutes to pick your pencil up off the floor again.  
and no I am not planning on naming my baby Zorro. As another Monday rolls around, let's just say it is time for summer and the countdown is on! 31 school days to go!

4th Times a Charm

You're probably busy watching the Super Bowl, but I personally find a story about polka dot pants much more interesting.

This is actually the fourth pair of polka dots pants I've purchased, but the first pair I've actually kept.
Long story short:

I got a cute pair at American Eagle, found ones I liked better at Old Navy, returned the ones from American Eagle.  

Tried on the Old Navy ones at home, couldn't believe I bought pants that were that tight and uncomfortable and returned them. 

Saw the same pants again at American Eagle for cheaper than before ($12) so I bought them.  Didn't wear them for a month because I was scared to wear polka dot pants for fear of looking like a clown or a four year old, got pregnant, they were already tight before so I returned them.  

Saw these at Old Navy for only $8 this weekend.  So I finally bought them and wore them.

Fourth times a charm, right? 

I apologize as I ended up sharing the full version.  And when I think about it, it is probably one of the worst and most boring stories I've told.  Please revert to a better one like here or here.

All Glory

I don't think there has been a recent Sunday when there wasn't a worship song that brought tears to my eyes, as they seem to be exactly what I need to hear.
Lately this worship song has been playing over and over in my mind. 

Let your kingdom come, and your will be done

Here on earth as it is in heaven.

And to your renown hear our hearts cry out

singing holy is the Lord.

All glory,

All honor, 

are yours alone forever.

What does giving God all the glory look like?

I have a pretty easy time giving glory to God when good things come. 

When I got my teaching job, when I feel extra blessed by my family, when I think about how much I love my house or how much my marriage has grown this last year. 

But to give God the glory when things don't go the way I want? 

Now that is something I struggle to do, 

but have been learning this year. 

My biggest prayer as we go through another round of fertility treatments is that whatever the outcome is,
 I give the glory to God.  

No doubt that if I get pregnant that will come easily.
The thought of giving glory to God if I'm not pregnant honestly scares me.
Mostly because I have a hard time picturing what that will look like. 

But I I do feel confident that even if I'm not pregnant, although as devastated as I'll be,

 I will be able to give glory to God.

High Five for Friday

1. I kind of feel like a cowgirl in this outfit.  All I need is a good pair of cowboy boots, which I have yet to buy.  Perhaps next Fall? 

2.  I made this for my family this week and it was so simple, but my family absolutely loved it.  Chris wanted me to make it the day after and my mom plans on making it tomorrow night.

3. Could I have a cuter nephew?
absolutely not.

4. I'm a little concerned that the content of this blog in regards to fashion posts may start slacking now that it is summer.  My summer style consists of flip flops and dresses, usually accompanied by unbrushed and unshowered hair.

Just so you're prepared. 

5. I also made this recipe this week.  Both recipes this week were from plain chicken blog. If you don't already, you should start checking this blog regularly.  It always has easy and delicious recipes.

The only thing I did differently is use french bread instead of sour dough bread.  I like sour dough bread, but figured as far as dessert goes, I'd rather have french bread.

High Five for Friday

1.  While I love this skirt, I feel like it is a weird length and maybe not very flattering on my short legs.  Wishing it was a maxi skirt or a tad bit shorter.  

2.  I have been wanting a shirt with birds on it for a long time.  One kind of like this:


It is only $11.49 online at Target.
I hardly ever buy anything online but am strongly considering this.

3. I found this note on one of my students' desk the other day: 

Circle yes or no?  It's funny that they are serious.  

4.  This week was teacher appreciation week.  One of the days the students could bring in different sweets or goodies for the teacher. 

One in particular knew exactly what to give me to make me happy.  

And you'd be so impressed to know that it sat on my desk for two days straight and I did not eat any and then brought them home.  

After your comments on this post, apparently you all are addicted to sweets as well.  

I have to report that I am dramatically improving and there have been many days in the last few weeks that I have gone dessert/sweets free! 

5.  There are 17 days left of school.

 I've been meaning to write about this since I started blogging but somehow kept forgetting. 

I may just be a little famous. 

See I am pretty much related to the inventor of blogger.  

This may sound a little removed but it's kind of a big deal.

My grandma's sister's  husband's cousin is the inventor of blogger and twitter - Evan Williams.

I should include the small detail that my grandma is actually my step grandma so while we aren't officially blood related,
I'm still going to count it.

And I'd happily take any kind of inheritance in the future for being an extended relative.

And maybe that means I should join twitter too.

Dear Lauren,

I am glad you convinced me to buy this shirt many months ago, even though it wasn't on clearance.  I definitely got my money's worth.  Worn here, here and here.  

I wore the bracelet that we bought in Mexico two summers ago.  I so badly wish we were going back this summer!

I think I need some serious psychology work done in my classroom.  I may just have some of the weirdest students this year that ever existed.  Here's an example:

After many times of me asking these two girls to put away a piece of red string that they were always playing with, I told them they needed to leave it at home.  This string had a name and was treated like a pet. 

Not too long ago the string came back.  I told the girls they could not bring it back and one of them asked in all seriousness, 

"What if it is invisible?" 

To which I raised my eyebrows and widened my eyes and she replied, 

"I mean what if I put an invisibility cloak over it?" 

Invisible or not.  Leave it at home. 

You may be thinking that these girls just have a good imagination.  If you interacted with them daily you would think it was way past a good imagination and into incredibly weird.

They also have secret codes and half the time I'm convinced they are saying and writing mean things about me.  

I think I'm turning into a crabby paranoid teacher. 

Maybe I'm the one that needs the therapy.

I'm starting to feel like the end of the year is far away.  

I love you and miss you and can't wait to see you in less than 4 weeks!
