You win some, you lose some.

shirt: jcpenney  (similar)   shorts: loft (similar)  wedges: kohls (similar)

I've share multiple DIY projects that I've done on this blog.
I've yet to share a project failure, so I figured it was time.

I saw this post for these lace shorts and wanted to try.  I bought myself a white pair of shorts at Good Will for $4.  From then on everything went completely wrong.

I didn't buy enough lace and had to go back to Walmart.
I cut my shorts too short.
My shorts have pockets on the front and back which makes it incredibly difficult.
I ended up spending over $12 on the lace and didn't even finish.
Let's not even talk about the amount of time I spent on them.
I could go on and on.

Being the stubborn (and cheap) person that I am I didn't want to give up on this project and went back to it many times.  But I think it is time to let it go!

Especially when I tried on these shorts at JcPenney and they were only $10.
and WAY cuter than mine.

But I didn't even buy them.  In my mind I already spend $16 on my failure pair of lace shorts, I couldn't add to it.
So let's just chalk that project up to a lose!

Thankfully there are many "wins" with this outfit to hopefully make up for it:

 these $7 scalloped shorts

these $9 wedges

and this $5 bird shirt

Which makes this entire outfit $21.  So I really just need to let the lace shorts go.
But I just may be picking off the lace I added to save it for another project as you read this.

Let's hope that's not true.

Dear Friday

 tank: target  shorts: loft

wedges: old navy  necklace: ebay

Dear Friday letters. This is my first time participating in you, and I feel like I am betraying High Five for Friday.  Dear Old Navy.  Thank you for having yet another amazing sale and giving me these shoes for under $4.  Dear Lauren in Law. I am jealous of your long beautiful hair.  I'm happy to play with it, but wish I could do the same to mine.

Dear Target. Please do not remind me that school is starting again soon. I do not care about your back to school deals.  Now if you want to entice me with deals on shoes, dresses and s'mores goldfish you may continue to do so.

Dear chocolate chip banana bread. In my effort to eat less desserts I am counting you as left over breakfast when I eat you throughout the day.

(recipe coming next week)

Dear Goodwill.  Every time I enter you I feel optimistic and like a thrifty blogger ready to find a good deal and then leave with nothing.

Dear Lovely Readers.  Please do not forget to enter my July Giveaway for a chance to win some sweet prizes!

The $15 Rule

lace blazer: kohls  shorts: loft  shoes: target  necklace: ebay

If you haven't learned by now, you should know that I am very cheap.
When I walk into a store I walk right to the clearance racks, and rarely look at anything else.

Usually if something is more than $15 I don't buy it.
Which partly explains why I have so many clothes, because I get them for really cheap.

This lace blazer was an exception by two dollars, but I am pretty excited about it.
I think I will be able to wear it all year long.

And just in case you're wondering, I got these scalloped shorts for $7 from the Loft,
these shoes from Target were also $7,
and I've already shared about my $15 necklace.

And I have to add a big thank you for all the encouraging and sweet comments on my post yesterday.
I know I've said this before but I really had no idea the kind of connections and relationships I could make through blogging.  Reading your comments yesterday morning and throughout the day brought me peace, encouragement and happiness - so thank you!
